Fumi Osada's Features Illustrated vol.1

In this issue, I'll present you my study about human's feature. So please read it with a world atlas.

Whenever I visit a new place, I watch a people's face. "Umm ... she's so beautiful" Yeah, I always something like that. But here watch it more objectively. Especially nose and eyes are more characteristic in the facial parts.

The special feature of Iranian face are long nose and almond shaped eyes. Generally there are various types in "long nose" The Iranian's has wide wings and a keen ridge like a eagle's beak over it. The eyes are very clear shaped and the corner of the eyes are not upturned but finished in a level. The impression from the features is very clear-cut.

The Iranian features gives strong effect to the people's features more east. Let's head to northeast from Iran. Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, then get into China, Xinjiang Uighur Region. Trace the ancient Silk Road.
Now I recall the people's features which I saw in Kashgar, the west end of China. When I came from opposite direction, the east, I clearly felt the people's features are changed from the east Asian. Not like Han people, apparently other elements were coming into the features. However I had absolutely no idea where it came from. From somewhere more west, elements of some Caucasian, maybe.

However now I look up, the portrait which is titled "Dress maker" once again. I notice the woman's features includes some elements of the Iranian. The clear-cut almond eyes, edged long nose with wide wings... Don't you think so?
Let's take a look one more portrait, it's a comical "Watermelon man". Again in Kashgar. He has slit eyes of Mongoloid. But watch his nose closely. His ridged big nose is apparently from Iranian.
I strongly feel the people in Xinjiang is culturally, and of course ethnically, close to the Iranian. I remember once I heard Persian language was quite understandable in Xinjiang.

OK, keep going to more east in the continent. After leaving Xinjiang Region, people's features are gradually changing. In Gansu province, central China for example, the long nose group from the west, the Tibetan group who has mild and drooping eye with red cheeks, and the group with simple shaped mid size nose and slit eyes are coexist.
As going to east, the third group becomes majority and we reach to the east end of Asia.
